Mercury ink F-C Farris
Mar 14, 2008 - 11:28 PM PHOENIX (Ticker) -- Barb Farris joined her third WNBA team Friday, when she signed a two-year contract with the Phoenix Mercury.A product of Tulane, the 6-3 forward-center spent the last two seasons with the New York Liberty after beginning her professional career with a six-year stint with the Detroit Shock, who she helped win a championship in 2003.
"Barb has a reputation around the league as being one of the top veterans," Mercury coach Corey Gaines said. "She is a great rebounder and a physical player with championship experience and a strong work ethic. She will give us veteran leadership on and off the court."
Farris, who currently is playing in Greece for Athinaikos, has averaged 4.1 points and 2.9 rebounds in 233 career games over eight campaigns.
