Silver Stars sign Lawson-Wade
Apr 28, 2008 - 9:27 PM SAN ANTONIO (Ticker) -- The San Antonio Silver Stars on Monday signed Edwige Lawson-Wade, the starting point guard for the French national team, to a free agent contract.Lawson-Wade is entering his third season in the WNBA, although she has not played in the league since 2006. She split that season with the New York Liberty and Houston Comets.
Lawson-Wade is currently playing for CSKA Samara of the Russian Super League with San Antonio teammates Becky Hammon and Ann Wauters. She is averaging 8.5 points and 5.7 assists per game in Russian league play.
"Her abilities with the ball and defensively will be a real asset to our growth and chemistry on the court," Silver Stars coach Dan Hughes said.
