Taurasi leads Mercury to third straight win
Jun 29, 2008 - 7:16 PM By PA SportsTickerUNCASVILLE, Connecticut (Ticker) -- Diana Taurasi scored 25 points and Tangela Smith added 21 and 11 rebounds to lead the Phoenix Mercury to an 87-80 victory over the Connecticut Sun on Sunday.
Cappie Pondexter had 16 points and eight assists for the Mercury (7-7), who have won three straight contests.
Phoenix held a 27-16 lead after the first quarter and never trailed for the rest of the game.
Asjha Jones had 16 points and nine rebounds to lead four players in double figures for the Sun (12-5).
