Sparks sign G Jacobs
Jul 7, 2008 - 9:03 PM LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- The Los Angeles Sparks on Monday signed guard Amber Jacobs.Jacobs had averaged 1.7 points and 1.8 assists in six games with the Washington Mystics earlier this season before being released.
In her fifth season, Jacobs has career averages of 4.5 points and 2.1 assists with the Mystics and Minnesota Lynx. She had career highs of 8.2 points and 3.4 assists with Minnesota in 2006.
"We signed Amber to strengthen our backcourt," Sparks coach Michael Cooper said. "She's a good, seasoned vet that can hit a jump shot and give us solid defensive presence from the guard position."
Los Angeles waived rookie forward Kamela Gissendanner to make room for Jacobs on the roster.
