Mystics acquire F Humphrey from Shock

WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- The Washington Mystics made a move to get younger Tuesday, acquiring forwards Tasha Humphrey and Eshaya Murphy along with a 2009 second-round pick from the Detroit Shock for forward Taj McWilliams-Franklin.

Selected 11th overall in the 2008 draft, Humphrey is averaging 7.3 points and 2.9 points in her rookie season. She leads all rookies in free-throwing shooting at just over 95 percent and his second in 3-point shooting among first-year players.

"Tasha is a versatile rookie post that can shoot the three and score in a variety of ways, her game resembles that of Tina Thompson and she has the potential to develop into the best power forward in the league," Mystics general manager Linda Hargrove said. "Shay is a high-energy second year player who works hard on the defensive end."

A 2007 second-round pick, Murphy is averaging 2.5 points in 13 games this season."

McWilliams-Franklin, a five-year veteran, was second in the Mystics in scoring, averaging 13.4 points in 26 games this season. She was in her first campaign with Washington.
