Sun sign F Jones to extension
Aug 13, 2008 - 8:05 PM UNCASVILLE, Connecticut (Ticker) -- The Olympic break failed to stop the Connecticut Sun from doing some business Wednesday as the team signed forward Asjha Jones to a three-year contract extension. In her fifth season with the Sun, Jones is averaging a team-high 16.8 points and 6.2 points in 26 games.
"Extending Asjha to a long-term contract makes good business sense," Sun general manager Chris Sienko said. "Keeping Asjha here was a top priority for us, and we are very pleased with this new contract."
Selected fourth overall by Washington, Jones played her first two seasons with the Mystics before being acquired by the Sun in a three-team trade that also involed Phoenix.
