WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- Jia Perkins scored 28 points to lead the Chicago Sky to a 79-75 victory over the Washington Mystics on Friday.
Trailing 71-70, the Sky was lifted by Candice Dupree's driving lay-up with 2:08 left to give them the lead for good. Over the final 33 seconds, Sylvia Fowles hit three of four free throws to secure the victory for Chicago (10-17).
Alana Beard poured in 18 points and Monique Currie added 16 to pace Washington (10-17).
Fowles recorded 20 points, 13 rebounds and five blocked for the Sky, who improved to 4-11 on the road.
In other games Friday:
DETROIT 83, NEW YORK 69: At Detroit, Deanna Nolan scored 26 points and Katie Smith added 12 points and six assists to help the Shock move past the Liberty.
The Shock (17-11) outscored the opposition, 31-14, in the third quarter en route to snapping their four-game losing skid.
Janel McCarville had 15 points for the Liberty (15-12).
CONNECTICUT 98, ATLANTA 72: At Atlanta, Tamika Whitmore poured in 27 points and grabbed six rebounds as the Sun toppled the Dream.
Asjha Jones added 20 for the Sun (18-10), who built a 55-38 bulge at the half.
Betty Lennox paced the Dream (3-25) with 19 points off the bench.
