Babe Ruth's Uniform From The 1934 Japan Tour | New York Yankees

Pinstripes of the Past: In 1934, Connie Mack took the American League's best players to play in Japan for the All Americans in a series of exhibition games. Babe Ruth was the star of the show during the 1934 Japan Tour; he hit the most home runs, hit the longest ball, and had the highest batting average. In 1939, the National Baseball Hall of Fame officially opened in Cooperstown, NY and Babe Ruth was officially inducted into the Hall of Fame. A special game was held to celebrate the opening and Babe wore his All Americans uniform once more. Babe Ruth's Notched Bat | New York Yankees

Pinstripes of the Past: From 1928 to 1929, Babe Ruth did something very unique with his bat - for every home run he hit with that bat, he would take a knife and carve a notch in the wood. On this specific bat, there are 6 notches on the top and 5 on the bottom of the center branding, marking the 11 home runs he hit with this bat. Loan Courtesy of Dr. Richard C. Mickey Mantle's Home Run That Almost Left Yankee Stadium | New York Yankees

Pinstripes of the Past: No player ever hit a home run outside the confines of Yankee Stadium, but Mickey Mantle came the closest. On May 30, 1956, Mantle crushed a home run that reportedly came within 18 inches of leaving the stadium. It bounced back onto the field, was tossed back into the dugout, and then was given to Mantle's teammate Eddie Robinson, who then displayed it at his restaurant in Baltimore for many years. This homerun encapsulates the triple crown season Mickey Mantle had that year in 1956. The 1958 NFL Championship Game at Yankee Stadium | New York Yankees

Pinstripes of the Past: From 1956 to 1973, Yankee Stadium was also home to the New York Giants. In 1958, the Giants hosted the Baltimore Colts for the NFL Championship Game, the first NFL title game to go into sudden-death overtime. The Colts won and fans stormed the field; one fan broke off a section of the wooden goal post and had all of the 1958 Colts players sign it.
