The National Hockey League announced today that New York Islanders goaltender Ilya Sorokin is a finalist for the 2026 Vezina Trophy, given annually to the NHL’s best goaltender. The winner is selected by the 32 NHL General Managers.

Mark Jankowski scored the go-ahead goal in the third period as the Hurricanes defeated the Islanders. Nikolaj Ehlers also scored for Carolina, and Brandon Bussi made 28 saves to help Carolina finish atop the Eastern Conference. The Canes will face Ottawa in the first round of the playoffs.
