Alouettes ink Matte for three years
Dec 20, 2012 - 10:16 PM Montreal, QC (Sports Network) - One week after securing the services of veteran quarterback Anthony Calvillo for two more seasons, the Montreal Alouettes on Thursday locked up guard Kristian Matte for three years."Kristian is developing nicely in our system," said Alouettes general manager Jim Popp. "He really contributed this past year and we expect him to continue playing more and more. He is ready to be a full time starter in the near future, if not now."
A former first-round pick in 2010, Matte participated in 11 games last season, part of an Alouettes offensive line which allowed only 30 sacks -- tied for fewest in the CFL with British Columbia.
