Roughriders ink LB Williams

Mar 25, 2013 - 7:46 PM Regina, SK (Sports Network) - The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed free agent linebacker Renauld Williams on Monday.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Williams spent the last two seasons with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He totaled 94 tackles, three sacks and one interception while participating in all 18 regular-season games.

The Hofstra product played for the Riders from 2007-09, and missed the entire 2010 campaign after suffering a season-ending injury while attending training camp with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

In five pro seasons, the 32-year-old New York native has totaled 282 tackles, 14 sacks and three picks.

To make room on the roster, Saskie released linebacker Joe Lobendahn. The 30- year-old Hawaiian picked up 40 tackles and two interceptions with the Riders in nine games.

A product of the University of Washington, Lobendahn has logged five years of CFL experience, four of those for Winnipeg.
