Tiger-Cats agree to deal with K-P Setta

Jan 7, 2009 - 3:43 PM HAMILTON, Ontario (Ticker) -- Nick Setta is staying put.

Setta on Wednesday agreed to terms on a multi-year contract with the Tiger-Cats that will keep him in Hamilton through the 2011 season.

An All-Star in each of his two campaigns in the CFL, Setta was named the East Division's Most Outstanding Rookie in 2007. Last season, the 5-11, 189-pound native of Lockport, Illinois matched his own franchise mark with a 97-yard punt and set a single-game league record by averaging 64.7 yards per punt, with both accomplishments coming in Week Four against the Calgary Stampeders.

"We're excited to have Nick remain with the club," Tiger-Cats general manager Bob O'Billovich said. "Nick has been a strong contributor on the field, in the locker room and in this community for the past two years, and it was important for us to keep a consistent, high-performance player like Nick in Hamilton for the foreseeable future."

In his two seasons with Hamilton, the former Notre Dame standout has converted 73-of-89 field goal attempts (82 percent) and averaged 45.6 yards per punt.
