Alouettes re-sign T Bourke
Jan 7, 2009 - 4:28 PM MONTREAL (Ticker) -- The Montreal Alouettes kept Josh Bourke in the fold Wednesday, re-signing the tackle to a two-year contract with a one-year option. An East Division All-Star last season, Bourke strengthened Montreal's offensive line as it allowed just 22 sacks. The 6-7, 315-pounder also helped the Alouettes set a franchise record with 610 points scored.
"This is a huge signing for our organization," Montreal general manager Jim Popp said. "In a short period of time, Josh has become one of the best offensive linemen in the CFL, bringing security to one of the toughest and most important positions on the football field at left tackle.
"We're confident his work ethic will help us continue to have a top-notch offensive line for years to come. Josh is the type of player we want to build our foundation around."
A native of Windsor, Ontario, the 26-year-old Bourke played collegiately at Grand Valley State from 2000-05, helping the Lakers to the NCAA Division II championship in 2005.
