Roughriders re-sign OL Makowsky

Feb 9, 2009 - 4:22 PM REGINA, Saskatchewan (Ticker) -- Saskatchewan Roughriders offensive lineman Gene Makowsky, the team's longest current tenured player, on Monday signed a one-year contract that includes a club option for 2010.

Entering his 15th season in Saskatchewan, Makowsky has played in 237 regular-season games and 13 playoff contests for the Roughriders.

The 35-year-old Saskatchewan native was named the CFL's West Division's nominee for most outstanding lineman last year after playing all 18 regular-season contests at tackle, guard and center.

He won that award in 2004 and 2005 and has been named a divisional All-Star in each of the past five seasons.
