Tiger-Cats sign QBs Betts, Meyer
Feb 25, 2009 - 12:47 AM HAMILTON, Ontario (Ticker) -- The Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Tuesday signed quarterbacks Josh Betts and Erik Meyer.Terms of the deals were not disclosed.
"We're excited about the potential of Josh and Erik," Hamilton general manager Bob O'Billovich said.
"I was impressed by the skills, strength and athletic ability of both players and I believe their style of play is well-suited to the CFL. Their toughness and leadership will also help them make positive contributions to our team."
Betts has spent the last three years on the practice roster of the NFL's Indianapolis Colts.
He threw for 7,029 yards and 54 touchdowns in 38 career games with Miami, Ohio.
Meyer set school records at Eastern Washington for passing yards (10,261), total offense (10,942 yards), completion percentage (.657), touchdown passes (84), completions (721), attempts (1,097), and rushing yards by a quarterback (681).
