Pirates recall RH Martinez from Triple-A
Sep 5, 2010 - 5:18 PM PITTSBURGH(AP) -- The Pittsburgh Pirates have recalled right-hander Joe Martinez from Triple-A Indianapolis, where he was 1-2 with a 5.72 ERA in seven games.Martinez was acquired from the Giants with outfielder John Bowker for left-handed reliever Javier Lopez on July 31. Martinez was 0-1 with a 4.91 ERA in four games with the Giants.
The team also announced on Sunday that right-hander Jeff Karstens will miss his scheduled start Monday against Atlanta due to arm and shoulder fatigue, the second time he's skipped a start in two weeks. He will be replaced by left-hander Brian Burres.
