Twins prepared to wait for Morneau
Jun 25, 2007 - 1:51 PM MINNEAPOLIS(Ticker) - The Minnesota Twins hope first baseman Justin Morneau can fly back home on Monday but will not rush the reigning American League MVP after his frightening collision at home plate on Friday night.Morneau remained at Memorial Hospital West in Pembroke Pines, Florida for a second night on Sunday after coughing up blood following a collision with Florida Marlins catcher Miguel Olivo.
X-rays have found Morneau has not broken any bones, but it is uncertain when he will be cleared to fly.
"They don't want to have any complications when he gets on an airplane," Twins general manager Terry Ryan said in the Minneapolis Star Tribune..
Morneau has not yet been placed on the disabled list as the Twins wait for a clearer picture on his health.
"He says he's feeling fine," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. "He's been text messaging people, and he's feeling fine, but we're being very cautious here."
Morneau is hitting .278 with a team-leading 20 home runs and 57 RBI.
The Twins host the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday night.
