Padres acquire Ciriaco from Red Sox
Jun 14, 2013 - 6:31 PM San Diego, CA (Sports Network) - The San Diego Padres acquired infielder Pedro Ciriaco from the Boston Red Sox Friday in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations.Ciriaco, 27, hit .216 with one home run and four RBI over 28 games this season. He was designated for assignment on Monday.
Over 135 games with the Pirates (2010-11) and Red Sox (2012-13), Ciriaco has a .287 batting average with three home runs and 30 RBI.
In addition, the Padres designated infielder/outfielder James Darnell for assignment.
