Mariners' Beavan lands on DL

Apr 16, 2014 - 10:19 PM Arlington, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - The Seattle Mariners placed pitcher Blake Beavan on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday, less than 24 hours after he was forced to exit a start against the Texas Rangers.

Beavan was pulled prior to the beginning of the bottom of the fifth inning of Seattle's 5-0 defeat to the Rangers on Tuesday due to tendinitis in his right shoulder. The 25-year-old Texas native had been recalled from Triple-A Tacoma earlier in the day to make his first major league start of the season.

The right-hander took the loss in the game after allowing a pair of solo home runs and six hits overall through four innings.

Outfielder James Jones was recalled from Tacoma to take Beavan's place on the 25-man roster.

A fourth-round pick of the Mariners in 2009, Jones was hitting .310 with four RBI in 11 games with the Rainiers this season.
