Mariners 1B Choi suspended for PEDs

Apr 17, 2014 - 9:48 PM New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Seattle Mariners first baseman Ji-Man Choi has been suspended 50 games without pay by Major League Baseball for testing positive for a banned performance-enhancing substance.

Choi was found to have the steroid methandieone in his system during a drug test to trigger the suspension, which will begin immediately.

The 22-year-old Korean was added to Seattle's 40-man roster in November and was playing for the Mariners' Triple-A affiliate in Tacoma. In 10 games for the Rainiers this season, Choi hit .394 with one home run and five RBI.
