Twins' Cuddyer placed on 15-day DL

Apr 5, 2008 - 4:13 AM MINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) -- Minnesota Twins right fielder Michael Cuddyer was placed on the 15-day disabled list after suffering a dislocated right index finger in Friday's game against the Kansas City Royals.

Cuddyer was injured during the third inning, when he slid hard into third base and jammed his right hand into Royals third baseman Alex Gordon.

In addition to the dislocation, Cuddyer suffered a laceration to the finger. He was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center for X-rays.

Jason Kubel came in to run for Cuddyer, who had two hits in his two at-bats Friday. In his eighth season with Minnesota, Cuddyer has a lifetime .270 batting average.

To replace Cuddyer on the roster, the Twins recalled outfielder Denard Span from Class AAA Rochester. Span is expected to join the team for Saturday's game against the Royals.
