Pirates OF Nady named NL Player of the Week
Apr 7, 2008 - 8:14 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Xavier Nady was named National League Player of the Week on Monday.The 29-year-old outfielder hit .385 (10-for-26), leading the NL with nine RBI and tying for the league lead with three home runs. Nady also scored six runs and posted a .448 on-base percentage.
In Pittsburgh's Opening Day 12-11 win against the Atlanta Braves, Nady went 4-for-7 with two home runs, including the go-ahead three-run blast in the 12th inning.
Other nominees for the opening week of the season were Chicago Cubs outfielder Kosuke Fukudome, San Diego Padres Pitcher Jake Peavy and St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Rick Ankiel.
