Ramirez, Cabrera share AL honor
Apr 21, 2008 - 6:14 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Boston Red Sox outfielder Manny Ramirez and Detroit Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera were named the American League Co-Players of the Week on Monday.Ramirez hit .417 (10-of-24) with four home runs and eight RBI over the past week to earn his 16th career weekly award. The 35-year-old is currently leading the AL in RBI with 20.
After a slow start to the season, Cabrera bounced back nicely last week, hitting .429 (12-for-28) with two home runs and 11 RBI.
Cabrera had a hit in all seven games this past week for the Tigers, including a four-hit game that included a two-run blast in a 13-2 victory over Cleveland on Wednesday.
The week raised Cabrera's average to .279 in his his first season with Detroit.
