Nats place 1B Johnson on DL

May 15, 2008 - 4:22 PM FLUSHING, New York (Ticker) -- The Washington Nationals placed first baseman Nick Johnson on the 15-day disabled list Thursday with a torn tendon in his right wrist.

Johnson, 29, is expected to miss four to six weeks with the injury.

The injury-prone first baseman is batting just .220 with five home runs and 20 RBI in 38 games this season. Johnson missed all of last season with a right leg fracture.

The Nationals will fill Johnson's roster spot with first baseman Dmitri Young, who has been on the disabled list since April 8.

The Nationals said they will activate Young on Friday.
