Twins RHP Blackburn leaves game

Jun 1, 2008 - 8:50 PM MINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) - Minnesota Twins rookie righthander Nick Blackburn left Sunday's game against the New York Yankees in the fifth inning after he was hit in the face by a line drive by Bobby Abreu.

The ball deflected off Blackburn's glove and hit him in the nose. The 26-year-old did not lose consciousness and was taken off the field for X-rays, which proved negative. He is listed as day-to-day.

Blackburn, who allowed one run and five hits in 4 1/3 innings, was replaced by righthander Brian Bass.
