ST. PETERSBURG, Florida (Ticker) -- The Boston Red Sox refused to comment Monday on a report that outfielder Manny Ramirez shoved a team official to the ground over the weekend.

According to a report in the Providence Journal, Ramirez was angered that Boston's traveling secretary Jack McCormick would not be able to fulfill his ticket request for Saturday night's game at the Houston Astros. Following an argument, Ramirez knocked McCormick to the ground, according to the Journal.

When contacted by PA SportsTicker, a spokeswoman for the Red Sox would not confirm that an incident took place and said the team had "no comment."

Ramirez, who was involved in an incident with Red Sox first baseman Kevin Youkilis in the dugout earlier this month, apologized to McCormick the following day and told the Providence Journal that the incident is "over" and that they are "fine now."

The slugger is batting .289 with a team-leading 16 home runs and 52 RBI this season. Ramirez recently hit home run No. 500 on May 31 at the Baltimore Orioles.
