Nationals activate RF Kearns from DL
Jul 3, 2008 - 8:42 PM CINCINNATI (Ticker) -- The Washington Nationals activated outfielder Austin Kearns from the 15-day disabled list prior to Thursday's contest against the Cincinnati Reds.Kearns, 28, was placed on the disabled list on May 22 and had arthroscopic surgery to remove loose particles in his right elbow the following day.
Prior to being sidelined, Kearns was batting just .187 with three homers and 16 RBI in 42 games for Washington this season.
In a corresponding move, the Nationals optioned outfielder Kory Casto to Class AAA Columbus of the International League.
Casto, 26, batted .180 (9-of-50) with a homer and seven RBI in 23 games for Washington.
