White Sox activate 3B Crede from DL

Aug 25, 2008 - 11:58 PM BALTIMORE (Ticker) -- The Chicago White Sox activated third baseman Joe Crede from the 15-day disabled list Monday.

Crede has been sidelined since July 22 with back lumbar inflammation.

The 30-year-old is hitting .255 this season with 17 home runs and 54 RBI in 90 games. Crede recently appeared in five games with Class AAA Charlotte on a rehab assignment, but went just 2-for-16 from the plate.

Also on Monday, Chicago also placed outfielder DeWayne Wise on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left groin.

Wise hurt himself while making a diving catch against the Seattle Mariners and has not played since last Wednesday. The outfielder was batting .288 (19-for-66) with two home runs and seven RBI in 35 games this season.

The White Sox also recalled righthander Lance Broadway from Charlotte and optioned infielder Chris Getz to Charlotte.
