White Sox purchase contract of OF Bourgeois

Sep 6, 2008 - 9:53 PM CHICAGO (Ticker) -- The Chicago White Sox purchased the contract of outfielder Jason Bourgeois from Class AAA Charlotte prior to Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Bourgeois batted .286 (146-for-510) with nine home runs, 48 RBI, 83 runs and 30 stolen bases in 127 games with Charlotte this season.

The 26-year-old was signed by the White Sox as a free agent on December 19, 2006, but has yet to make an appearance in the majors.

In a corresponding move, the White Sox designated righthander Charlie Haeger for assignment.

Haeger, 24, was 10-13 with a 4.45 ERA and 117 strikeouts in 28 games - 25 starts - with Charlotte this season.
