Red Sox OF Ellsbury out of Game Four lineup
Oct 14, 2008 - 9:57 PM BOSTON (Ticker) -- Slumping Boston Red Sox center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury has been benched for Wednesday's Game Four of the American League Championship Series against the Tampa Bay Rays.Boston's regular leadoff hitter, Ellsbury played in all seven of the Red Sox's previous playoff games. But he is 0-for-14 in the ALCS after going 6-for-18 in four games against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the Division Series.
In an attempt to shake things up, Boston manager Terry Francona has moved right fielder J.D. Drew to the leadoff spot. Drew normally bats fifth or sixth.
The Red Sox trail the series, two-games-to-one, after suffering a 9-1 loss Monday.
