Red Sox name Bogar first base coach
Nov 28, 2008 - 5:48 PM BOSTON (Ticker) -- The Boston Red Sox on Friday named Tim Bogar first base coach.Bogar served as assistant coach for the 2008 American League Champion Tampa Bay Rays.
Prior to joining the Rays, the 44-year-old spent four seasons as a manager in the Cleveland Indians and Houston Astros minor league systems.
Bogar played nine seasons in the major leagues with the New York Mets, Houston and the Los Angeles Dodgers, compiling a .228 batting average with 24 home runs and 161 RBI in 701 games.
