Lakers re-sign F Walton
Jul 12, 2007 - 9:50 PM LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- The Los Angeles Lakers re-signed forward Luke Walton to a multi-year contract Thursday.Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the Los Angeles Times reported earlier this month that the unrestricted free agent inked a six-year, $30-million deal to stay with the team.
The new contract would more than triple the reported $1.4 million he made last season.
Over his four-year career with the Lakers, Walton averaged just 5.4 points and 3.1 rebounds while playing just over 18 minutes per game.
However, the 27-year-old averaged career highs of 11.4 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.3 assists over 33 minutes last season.
NBA teams could not officially announce signings until Wednesday, when the free-agent moratorium ended.
No one has shouted yet.
