Knicks waive Odom, re-sign Cole Aldrich
Jul 12, 2014 - 12:38 AM New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The New York Knicks waived forward Lamar Odom on Friday and re-signed center Cole Aldrich.Odom, 34, was signed in April but never appeared in a game for the Knicks. The 14-year NBA veteran hasn't played in an NBA game since the 2012-13 season.
Knicks president Phil Jackson, who coached Odom for several seasons while with the Lakers, said in a statement Odom "was unable to uphold the standards to return as an NBA player" and said the move was necessary to free up a roster spot.
Aldrich, 25, averaged 2.0 points and 2.8 rebounds over 46 games in his first season with the Knicks.
