Lakers sign C Mbenga for rest of season
Feb 11, 2008 - 8:21 PM EL SEGUNDO, California (Ticker) -- The Los Angeles Lakers on Monday signed center D.J. Mbenga for the rest of the season.The announcement came as Mbenga came to the end of his second 10-day contract with the team. The 27-year-old joined the Lakers on January 21 and signed a second contract on February 1.
In eight games with the Lakers, Mbenga has averaged 2.3 points, 2.1 rebounds and 0.75 blocks.
Earlier this season, the 7-foot Mbenga averaged 1.2 points and 1.9 points with the Golden State Warriors before being released on January 6.
The Congo native also has played with the Dallas Mavericks.
