Lakers' Fisher has torn tendon in foot

Mar 29, 2008 - 7:10 AM LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Kobe Bryant won't be the only player on the Los Angeles Lakers who's going to be playing through an injury.

It was revealed that Lakers guard Derek Fisher has sustained a partial tear of a tendon in his right foot but is expected to play through the pain.

Fisher's injury would potentially require up to at least eight weeks of rest to fully heal. He is averaging 12.0 points and 2.9 assists in 72 games this season.

The reigning two-time scoring champion, Bryant has been playing with torn ligaments in his right pinkie since hurting it on February 5 against the New Jersey Nets.

Los Angeles is already dealing with injuries to forward Pau Gasol (ankle) and third-year center Andrew Bynum (knee). But both are expected back to the rotation within the coming weeks.

The Lakers (49-24) are one game behind the New Orleans Hornets (49-22) for first place in the loaded Western Conference with nine games remaining in the regular season.
