Report: Lakers C Bynum might have surgery
May 8, 2008 - 3:41 AM LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Los Angeles Lakers center Andrew Bynum's injured left knee might require arthroscopic surgery if there's no improvement within the next three or four weekends, according to a report in Wednesday's Los Angeles Times.Lakers spokesman John Black told the Times that Bynum's latest diagnosis was made by knee specialist Steven Gecha in Princeton, New Jersey.
Bynum sustained the injury on January 13 at home against the Memphis Grizzlies. It was estimated that he would be sidelined for eight to 12 weeks. But the young big man hasn't played since, putting a stop to his best season as a pro, in which he averaged 13.1 points and 10.2 rebounds through 35 games.
Bynum was expected to rejoin the Lakers for the stretch run prior to the start of the playoffs, but wasn't cleared to practice by doctors last month.
No one has shouted yet.
