Cavaliers F James, Lakers C Bynum honored by NBA

Jan 26, 2009 - 9:31 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James and Los Angeles Lakers center Andrew Bynum were named Players of the Week for the Eastern and Western Conferences, respectively, on Monday.

James, who was honored for the fourth time this season, led the Cavaliers to wins in three of their four games last week during a West Coast road trip.

He averaged 30.5 points, 9.8 rebounds, 8.8 assists and 2.3 steals and was among the top 10 in each of those categories among all Eastern Conference players.

With a 33-point, 14-rebound effort on Saturday during a win at Utah, James recorded his twelfth double-double of the season.

During a 4-0 week for the Lakers, Bynum averaged 23.5 points, 11.5 rebounds and 2.25 blocks.

During Wednesday's 108-97 win over the Clippers, Bynum posted a season-high 42 points and 15 rebounds. He finished with double-doubles in three of the four games.

Other nominees were Boston's Ray Allen, Charlotte's Raja Bell and Boris Diaw, Cleveland's Mo Williams, Houston's Luis Scola and New York's David Lee.
