Lakers acquire F Morrison from Bobcats
Feb 7, 2009 - 9:57 PM CLEVELAND (Ticker) -- Adam Morrison is getting a fresh start with the league's best team.Tired of waiting for Morrison to fulfill his potential, the Charlotte Bobcats traded the forward along with guard Shannon Brown to the Los Angeles Lakers for forward Vladimir Radmanovic on Saturday.
Morrison has been a bust since being drafted third overall by the Bobcats in 2006 following a huge collegiate career at Gonzaga.
The 6-8 Morrison never found a regular spot in demanding coach Larry Brown's rotation this season and is averaging just 4.5 points in 44 games.
Morrison averaged 11.8 points during his rookie campaign, then missed the entire 2007-08 campaign with a torn knee ligament.
Now, Morrison will try to garner playing time with the deep and talented league-leading Lakers (40-9).
Radmanovic, 28, fell out of favor with coach Phil Jackson this season, averaging a career-low 5.9 points while playing just under 17 minutes per contest. The 2001 first-round pick has career averages of 9.2 points in 516 games.
"Vladimir is a versatile forward who has the ability to play multiple positions in the league," Bobcats general manager Rod Higgins said. "We saw this as an opportunity to add another experienced player whose skill set is interchangeable with a variety of different lineups."
Brown also has been a disappointment since being selected in the first round by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2006. Already joining his fourth team, the Michigan State product has averaged 4.5 points in 74 career games.
No one has shouted yet.
