Lakers trade C Mihm to Grizzlies for future second-rounder
Feb 19, 2009 - 12:00 AM OAKLAND, California (Ticker) -- The Los Angeles Lakers unloaded center Chris Mihm on Wednesday, sending him to the Memphis Grizzlies for a conditional second-round pick in the 2013 draft.A former seventh overall pick out of Texas in 2000, Mihm has been with the Lakers since 2004, serving as the team's starter in the middle the following two seasons. He has endured injury troubles the last two years and has fallen back on the depth chart as Los Angeles has improved its frontcourt depth.
"The last two years have been difficult and frustrating for Chris in coming back from his ankle injury," Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak said. "But Chris has handled himself with true professionalism the entire time. With the depth of our roster, especially at the center position, Chris has not had the opportunity to play that he deserves."
Mihm is averaging 2.0 points and 1.9 rebounds in 18 games while logging just six minutes per contest.
