Gardner-Webb defeats Montreat 89-62
Nov 17, 2009 - 4:21 AM BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.(AP) -- David Brown scored 15 points in 16 minutes off the bench and Gardner-Webb defeated Montreat 89-62 on Monday night.Brown paced four Runnin' Bulldogs (2-0) in double figures as C.J. Hailey and Jonathan Moore scored 13 points each. Stefon Johnson chipped in with 11 points and three blocks for Gardner-Webb.
The Runnin' Bulldogs won the rebounding battle 52-29 led by Josh Henley with 12 and Auryn MacMillan with nine.
Four Gardner-Webb players had two steals apiece and the Runnin' Bulldogs forced 23 Cavaliers' turnovers, which led to 43 points.
The Runnin' Bulldogs scored 53 points in the paint and 25 on fast breaks.
Matt Rushing led the Cavaliers with 14 points on 4-for-8 shooting from 3-point range. Dustin Harris and Kevin Hanlon scored 12 points each and Terrell Mosley added 11 for Montreat.
