No. 19 Illinois downs Western Michigan
Nov 27, 2010 - 9:05 PM Kalamazoo, MI (Sports Network) - Mike Tisdale scored 18 points and pulled down seven rebounds, as 19th-ranked Illinois downed Western Michigan, 78-63.Brandon Paul added 14 points for the Fighting Illini (6-1), who played their first true road game of the season. Mike Davis logged 12 points for Illinois, and Demetri McCamey eight points and 10 assists.
Matt Stainbrook scored 16 points for the Broncos (1-3), who have lost all four meetings with Illinois.
McCamey drained a three-pointer to give Illinois a 25-11 lead, and a Tisdale layup made it 49-24 at halftime.
Western Michigan closed to within 61-48 on a Juwan Howard Jr. layup with just under 12 minutes remaining, but Jereme Richmond and Paul followed with baskets before McCamey sank 1-of-2 free throws to increase the advantage to 18.
Game Notes
Richmond had 12 points and five rebounds...Nate Hutcheson and Demetrius Ward scored 15 and 13 points, respectively, for Western Michigan...Illinois shot 51.6 percent (33-of-64) from the field.
