No. 6 Tar Heels beat Robert Morris 103-59

Nov 17, 2014 - 6:10 AM Chapel Hill, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Brice Johnson had 23 points and Kennedy Meeks scored 21 with 12 rebounds to lead No. 6 North Carolina to a 103-59 win over Robert Morris on Sunday.

Marcus Paige added 15 points and Justin Jackson scored 13 for the Tar Heels (2-0), who opened the season with a 76-60 win over North Carolina Central on Friday.

"Much more active defensively tonight than we were Friday night," Tar Heels coach Roy Williams said.

Marcquise Reed had a game-high 24 points off the bench to lead Robert Morris (0-2) but no other Colonials player scored in double digits.

The game was part of the Battle 4 Atlantis event.

The Colonials, coming off a 77-50 loss to Lafayette on Friday, shot 28 percent in the second half and 36 percent for the game and were outrebounded 49-31 in the first-ever meeting between the basketball programs.

Meeks scored 10 of his 21 points during a 15-2 North Carolina run to open the game.

"I like the way we fought back, we cut it to single digits twice in the first half, and there's just trying to sustain that effort, which is something thats so difficult," Robert Morris coach Andrew Toole said.

The Tar Heels shot better than 54 percent in the first half for a 53-35 lead at the break. They shot under 48 percent in the second half but outscored the Colonials 50-24.
