Wagner beats Robert Morris 62-54 behind Carey

Feb 27, 2016 - 11:03 PM NEW YORK (AP) Michael Carey scored 12 of his 23 points in the first half and grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds to help Northeast Conference leader Wagner beat Robert Morris 57-50 on Saturday to sweep the season series.

Henry Brooks and Corey Henson scored eight points apiece and JoJo Cooper had five assists for the Seahawks (20-9, 13-5), who have won five straight. In their previous meeting, Wagner defeated the defending conference champion Colonials 72-69 on Jan. 4.

Up by one at halftime, Wagner pulled further away on a 13-5 run capped by Carey's layup, but the Colonials closed to within 48-42 after Matty McConnell's back-to-back 3-pointers and Isaiah Still's layup off a steal.

Cooper put Wagner up 62-52 with a pair of free throws with 26 seconds to go and the Seahawks held on.

Still scored 15 points and Rodney Pryor scored 14 and grabbed 11 rebounds for Robert Morris (10-21, 8-10), which entered in eighth place.
