Wyoming crushes San Diego State for 10th straight win
Jan 20, 2008 - 1:16 AM LARAMIE, Wyoming (Ticker) -- Hanna Zavecz scored 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting to lead Wyoming to its 10th straight win, 65-49, over San Diego State on Saturday in a Mountain West Conference matchup.The Cowgirls shot 53 percent (21-of-40) in the contest and blocked seven shots, overcoming a 42-29 rebounding disadvantage and 20 turnovers.
Wyoming (16-1, 4-0 MWC) shot out to a 37-18 lead after the first 20 minutes due to a 12-of-21 shooting effort and a stifling defense that held the Aztecs scoreless for almost seven minutes to start the game and limited them to 4-of-28 shooting in the half.
Allison Duffy was the only player to reach double figures with 14 points for San Diego State (9-7, 0-4), which committed 22 turnovers.
