Fowles, LSU block path of Tulane
Nov 20, 2006 - 2:50 AM NEW ORLEANS (Ticker) -- Sylvia Fowles continues to etch her name into the LSU record books.Fowles scored 21 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead the undefeated Tigers to a 59-39 victory over Tulane.
A 6-6 junior center, Fowles, who went over 1,000 points for her career last Monday night, blocked three shots to become the school's all-time leader with 179.
LSU (5-0) used a 15-0 run in the second half to break away from a 31-31 tie and take a 46-31 lead.
Fowles made 9-of-12 shots in recording her third double-double of the season and 38th of her career.
Allison Hightower scored nine points and Quianna Chaney added eight for LSU, which shot 44 percent (24-of-54).
Ashley Langford scored 10 points to lead Tulane (2-1), which shot 22 percent (13-of-60) and was outrebounded, 44-32.
