MOBILE, Alabama (Ticker) -- West Virginia's Pat White decided to only play quarterback in the Senior Bowl. Based on his performance Saturday, the Mountaineers' star appears to have made a wise decision.

White and Mississippi's Mike Wallace connected on a 38-yard scoring play in the third quarter as the South slammed the North, 35-18.

Conventional thought is that the 6-foot, 197-pound White projects as a returner or wide receiver, but he stuck to his guns and played quarterback in front of the NFL scouts this week.

White found Wallace streaking down the left sideline and into the end zone for the touchdown to make it 28-10. White was named the game's MVP, finishing with 94 total yards on 4-of-9 passing and three rushes for 31 yards.

The North closed the gap to 28-18 when Navy's Eric Kettani pounded in from a yard out in the first minute of the fourth quarter. The score was set up by a pair of nice catches by Oklahoma's Juaquin Iglesias, who also impressed. Oregon's Jeremiah Johnson ran the ball in on the two-point conversion.

Iglesias wound up with six catches for 90 yards, including a 41-yard reception from former Oklahoma quarterback Rhett Bomar late in the game. Bomar was forced to transfer from the Sooners to Sam Houston State after a job scandal.

The South built the bulge to 35-18 when it sacked Bomar in the end zone and the fumble was recovered by Peria Jerry of Ole Miss.

One player who did not improve his stock was Texas Tech's Graham Harrell, who struggled in a 4-of-13 performance for 40 yards with an interception.

The South surged to a 21-3 lead in the first half on running scores by Alabama's John Parker Wilson, LSU's Quinn Johnson and North Carolina State's Andre Brown to turn the game into a showcase of individual talent as opposed to an actual contest.
