Report: Williams to be named Yale football coach
Jan 6, 2009 - 2:33 AM NEW HAVEN, Connecticut (Ticker) -- Jacksonville Jaguars defensive assistant Tom Williams on Monday accepted Yale's offer to become the school's first black head football coach, according to a published report.The 39-year-old Williams officially will be announced as the Bulldogs' coach at a news conference Wednesday, according to the New Haven Register.
Williams, who has spent the last two seasons as a defensive assistant with the Jaguars, has gained college coaching experience at Hawaii, Washington, Stanford and San Jose State.
He will replace Jack Siedlecki, who retired after 12 seasons to accept a job as an assistant athletic director at Yale.
