Giants put LB Gerris Wilkinson on injured reserve
Nov 11, 2009 - 5:47 PM EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J.(AP) -- The New York Giants have placed backup linebacker Gerris Wilkinson on injured reserve with a wrist injury.The Giants announced the move Wednesday and signed cornerback D.J. Johnson off the Denver Broncos practice squad to fill out the roster.
Wilkinson was hurt in Sunday's 21-20 loss to the San Diego Chargers. He had surgery on Monday. He was leading the Giants with 12 tackles on special teams.
Johnson is a rookie out of Jackson State. He was signed as a free agent by the Broncos in April.
