Giants will host Cowboys in 2012 opener
Mar 28, 2012 - 3:47 AM New York, NY (Sports Network) - The Super Bowl champion New York Giants will welcome the Dallas Cowboys to MetLife Stadium in the 2012 season-opening NFL Kickoff game on Wednesday, September 5.The NFL announced in late February that the season-opener would be played on Wednesday this year instead of the usual Thursday start. The change was made to avoid a conflict with President Barack Obama's Thursday night speech at the Democratic National Convention.
The last NFL game to take place on a Wednesday occurred on September 22, 1948 (Rams-Lions).
The NFC East battle will take place at 8:30 p.m. (et). The Giants defeated Dallas twice in the last four weeks of the 2011 season to sweep the series for the second time in three years.
