NEWARK, New Jersey (Ticker) -- The New York Giants accomplished one of their offseason priorities Wednesday, signing right guard Chris Snee to a six-year contract extension.
Financial terms were not disclosed, but the Newark Star-Ledger reported Tuesday the deal will make Snee one of the top five highest-paid players at his position.
"I am just happy to have it done before the season and really just have peace of mind and not worry about it and go out and play," Snee said. "I had faith that it would be done.
Snee, 26, has started 59 of 64 games over his first four seasons since the Giants drafted him in the second round in 2004.
"We are very pleased to get Chris extended," Giants manager Jerry Reese said. "He has been a tremendous player and person for us since day one. It's also very important to keep our offensive line intact."
The 6-3 guard has made 48 consecutive regular-season starts and started all four postseason games last year, helping the Giants win the Super Bowl.
Snee is the son-in-law of New York coach Tom Coughlin.
